Are there any organs we could theoretically live without?

We all know you can live without your appendix or a kidney, but are there any other organs that people can live without, either because they’re redundant or because the body can adapt? What are the limits of organ removal, and what kinds of adjustments does the body make when something major is missing? Would love to hear about rare cases or medical insights!

You can live without your appendix, spleen, one kidney, gallbladder, and even parts of your liver or lungs. The body is pretty adaptable, though losing some organs means you have to be more careful about infections or diet.

I had my gallbladder removed and haven’t had any major issues, just have to watch fatty foods. People can also live with only part of their intestines, though it can affect nutrient absorption.

You can survive without a stomach (with surgery to connect the esophagus to the intestines), but it changes digestion a lot. Some organs are more “optional” than others, but you can’t live without your heart or brain, obviously!
