How does the lymphatic system interact with the circulatory system?

I understand that the lymphatic system is important for immune function, but how does it actually interact with the circulatory system? Where do the two systems connect, and how does lymph get returned to the bloodstream? Are there any diseases that result from problems with this interaction?

The lymphatic system collects excess fluid from tissues and returns it to the bloodstream through the thoracic duct and right lymphatic duct. It’s a one-way system that helps maintain fluid balance.

Lymph nodes filter out pathogens before the fluid is returned to the blood. If the lymphatic system isn’t working right, you can get swelling (lymphedema) or infections.

The two systems are closely linked-blood plasma leaks out of capillaries, and the lymphatic system picks it up and eventually dumps it back into the veins near the heart.
