How does the structure of skin vary across different body regions?

I know skin isn’t the same everywhere on the body-like the skin on your palms is different from your eyelids. What are the main anatomical differences in skin structure across different regions, and how do these differences relate to their functions? Are there any interesting facts about skin variation?

Skin on your palms and soles is much thicker and has more sweat glands but no hair. It’s designed to handle friction and protect against wear and tear. Eyelid skin is super thin and delicate in comparison.

Different areas also have different numbers of sensory receptors. That’s why your fingertips are so sensitive and your back isn’t. Plus, the skin on your scalp has lots of hair follicles, while your lips don’t.

The thickness of the dermis and the amount of subcutaneous fat can vary a lot. That’s why injections are given in certain places where the skin is thicker and less sensitive.
