What are the main differences between male and female pelvises?

I’ve heard that male and female pelvises are shaped differently, especially for childbirth in women. What are the specific anatomical differences, and how do they affect things like movement, stability, or even injury risk? Are there any interesting evolutionary reasons behind these differences?

Female pelvises are generally wider and have a larger pelvic inlet to make childbirth easier. The angle of the pubic arch is also wider in women.

Male pelvises are narrower and more robust, which helps with bipedal walking and supports more muscle attachment. The sacrum is longer and more curved in men.

You can actually tell a lot about a person’s sex from their pelvis, which is why it’s used in forensic anthropology. The differences are all about balancing movement with childbirth needs.
