What are the most fascinating examples of anatomical adaptation?
I love learning about how the human body has adapted over time or in response to different environments. What are some of the coolest or most surprising examples of anatomical adaptation in humans or even in other animals? This could be anything from high-altitude adaptation to weird evolutionary leftovers. Bonus points for unusual or little-known examples!

I think high-altitude adaptation in people from the Andes or Himalayas is amazing. Their bodies have evolved to use oxygen more efficiently, with bigger lungs and more red blood cells.

The opposable thumb is a classic example. It lets us grip tools and do fine motor tasks. Also, the S-shaped spine helps us walk upright, but it’s a trade-off because it can lead to back pain.

Some people have extra muscles or tendons that don’t really do much now but might have helped our ancestors climb or grasp things better. Evolution leaves a lot of interesting leftovers!
