Why do some people have more visible veins than others?
I’ve noticed that some people have really prominent veins, especially on their arms or hands, while others don’t. What factors determine how visible your veins are? Is it just about body fat and skin tone, or are there anatomical differences in vein size or placement? Do visible veins indicate anything about health?

Visible veins are usually due to lower body fat, thinner skin, or genetics. Athletes often have more prominent veins because they have less fat and more muscle, which pushes the veins closer to the surface.

Hydration and temperature can also make veins pop out more. When you’re hot, your veins dilate to help cool you off, so they look bigger. Some people just naturally have bigger or more superficial veins.

I’ve always had visible veins on my hands and arms, even as a kid. My doctor said it’s nothing to worry about unless you notice swelling or pain.
